Rival 3-qt Stainless Steel Electric Fondue Set

Because it is an Electric fondue set, the Rival 3-qt Stainless Steel Fondue Pot has the advantage of eliminating the need for expensive, messy, and sometimes smelly fuel. The electric cord connects magnetically, so it will simply detach if the cord is pulled. This is a great feature and allows you to set the fondue pot on a table without worrying about something awful like a child pulling the pot on top of them. Unfortunately, the cord is rather short so an extension cord may be necessary in some situations.

The thermostat that controls the pots temperature works very well. It heats the pot up quickly and evenly. Although sometimes it seemed like it was on the perfect temperature for a few minutes, but then the cheese would start bubbling and the temperature needed to be turned down. The thermostat is removable for easy cleaning.

The pot has two handles that extend far enough away from the pot so that they stay cool. This makes the set easy to move around without danger of burning yourself. Everything is put together very well and the pot seems very sturdy.

The set comes with eight fondue forks, all with colored dots so you can tell whose is whose in case they get mixed up. Along with the forks comes a thin fork holder ring that goes over the top of the pot. The ring seems a bit unnecessary because if everyone let their forks rest on the ring, there wouldn’t be any room left to dip into the fondue.

Pros:

Doesn’t require fuel, breakaway cord makes it very safe, easy to clean, heats up fast and evenly, affordable.

Cons:

Short cord, thermostat needs to be watched closely sometimes.

The Bottom Line:

The Rival Stainless Steel Electric Fondue Set works wonderfully and is put together very well. The pros greatly outweigh the cons. It’s simply a fantastic value, and a great set to get started with if you are new to fondue.
