Fondue Sets
A great fondue set will make your fondue experience a pleasant one. A bad one, on the other hand, can take all the fun out of fondue.
Fortunately, we have some tips on what to look for when choosing a fondue set. We've also included reviews to help you find a set that’s right for you.
The Traditional Fondue Pot
The traditional pot is made from earthenware or ceramic and is called a “caquelon”. It should be nice and heavy to retain and distribute the heat properly. These pots are best for cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. Hot oil for meat requires a different type of pot.
Most pots come with a burner unit that is fueled by alcohol, fuel paste, tea lights, electricity, or butane.
Hot Oil Fondue Pot
A copper or enameled iron pot is best for hot oil fondue (used for cooking meat). This kind of pot absorbs heat and keeps the cooking oil hot.
Fondue Forks
These usually look like little spears and are long enough to be dipped into the hot fondue comfortably. They are made to be heat resistant, but can sometimes get hot so warn your guests.
Make sure the forks have identifying markings such as colored tips, so everyone can tell their forks apart. In a pinch, a wood or bamboo skewer can be used as a fondue fork.

Although it has some nice features, a frustrating thermostat makes using this set an exercise in frustration. There are much better electric fondue sets available in the same price range.
